Tyrone Vs Westmeath – 2014 Allianz GAA National League, Division 1

Tyrone blew past newly promoted Division 1 team Westmeath on Sunday in Omagh with a big 14 point win, seven days after their disappointing defeat to Kerry in Killarney. A number of changes were made for this game then and all seemed to work fine despite a nervy opening 10 minutes from the home side.

With only a one point lead at HT however, Tyrone’s confidence grew in the second half with an early Sean Cavanagh goal followed by a second well placed shot into the bottom corner by Ronan O’Neill. Some great attacking performances from Ciaran McGinley, Mattie Donnelly, in his first half back position this year, Connor Mc Aliskey and Kyle Coney with Niall Morgan hitting some delightful points yet again.

Full time score; Tyrone 2-23 Westmeath 1-12.

Tyrone’s next two games, against Cork and Dublin, will be pivotal if they are to secure a place in the league semi-finals.
