Killeeshil Vs Stewartstown

Tyrone club football started back this weekend across all three divisions after a 2 week delay due to the Tyrone U21’s progress to the Ulster Championship final. It was great to get back to the local club GAA action after snapping a lot of Tyrone games the past 3 months and on Saturday I made the short journey down to newly promoted Division 2 side Killeeshil for their game against Stewartstown Harps.

Killeeshil made the brighter start with a goal from Ciaran O’Neill but Gareth Devlin responded with a goal from the penalty spot. Killeeshil didn’t let their heads drop though at HT it was 1-05 apiece.

In the second half, both sides made a lot of mistakes and squandered opportunities but the other team never capitalized on them. The game could have went either way towards the end but Stewartstown pulled off a slender 1-12 t0 1-09 win over the Hoops – it’s fair to say they made more work for themselves than was necessary in getting their first 2 points of the season but they will be happy with the away win.

A Stewartstown sideline ball that was ruled to be taken across the line by referee Eugene Mc Connell was one decision of many that added to the players' frustration.
