Errigal Ciaran Vs Clonoe

This was the first GAA event of the day for me on Sunday as Errigal Ciaran took on Clonoe O’Rahillys at Dunmoyle with a midday throw-in. The grounds were in a glorious condition for the game and everyone’s spirits were up following the recent sunny weather and high temperatures.

A midday throw in and a cloudless sky however resulted in some hard shadows on all the players faces which of course doesn’t make for nice photos but it can’t be helped.  As well as that, it was difficult to see how the photos were looking on the camera too and if they were focused properly.

Both these sides have been doing well in the Tyrone ACL Division 1 league so far so there was never going to be much in the final result. Although the sun was shining in Dunmoyle, there was a considerable breeze blowing throughout the game and Errigal played with it in the first half. Caolan Tierney, Ciaran Mc Ginley and Thomas Canavan all added first half points for Errigal and they seemed to have a decent lead built up approaching half time only for a Danny Mc Nulty goal right at the whistle for Clonoe to make it 0-09 to 1-05 in favour of Errigal Ciaran.

Clonoe had the breeze in the second half and they used it to their advantage with points from a considerable distance out from Shane O’Hagan, Colm Doris and Conor Mc Aliskey. Errigal Ciaran played very well despite missing a number of first team regular players but it was Clonoe that took the 2 points on a scoreline of; Errigal Ciaran 0-13 Clonoe 1-11.

I took this photo of the Errigal Ciaran sideline flag just where I was sitting. Taken with a wide lens at 10mm, it meant that I could get the flag and the clubrooms all in one photo despite being only centimetres away from the flag. Love the colours in this so it was one of my favourites of the day.
