Dromore Vs Ardboe (Replay)

Ardboe and Dromore locked horns again on Sunday afternoon in the Power N.I. Tyrone Senior Championship, quarter final replay, this time in Edendork.

The rain that fell during the first half was something of biblical proportions with Edendork descending into virtual darkness (at 3.20pm) before the heavens opened on everyone a few minutes later – below are a couple of photos of how bad it was. This was the worst shower of the game but others did come and go throughout the rest of the afternoon.

Very little divided these two teams 2 weeks ago and it was a case of the same on Sunday. Ardboe started strongly and went 0-04 to 0-01 up but it was Conor O’Neill’s goal for Dromore and subsequent scores that saw them go in 1-04 to 0-04 up at half time.

The second half was just as exciting with both teams playing an attacking style of football and giving all they had. Dromore maintained a reasonably comfortable lead until the last few minutes of full time. Confusion amongst the Ardboe forwards regarding what to do with a 20m free kick resulted in Dromore breaking with the ball and running up the field in a swift counter-attack to score their second goal and secure the game.

The now traditional Ardboe Vs Dromore melee soon broke out at this and it took a few minutes until order was restored but by this stage the game was effectively over as a contest. Full time score; Dromore 2-08 Ardboe 0-09.

Dromore will now take on Omagh in a tasty semi-final tie!

The Ardboe goalkeeper could do little to shelter from the torrential rain.

As a brief squirmish breaks out, the rain beats down on the players. There was very little natural light during this shower resulting in flicking the camera's ISO to 2000 which I didn't want to increase any further as it would have affected the overall quality of photo. Focusing was difficult at times too during heavy rain like this.

Conor O'Hara shields the ball away from Ardboe's Frank Mc Guigan.

Ricey Mc Menamin steals the ball from Brian Mc Guigan during another shower of rain in the second half.
