Derrylaughan Vs Moortown

The second game at Coalisland on Saturday was disappointing compared to the thriller that preceded it. Loughshore neighbours, Derrylaughan Kevin Barrys and Moortown, took each other on in the N.I. Power Tyrone Senior Championship quarter final in front of a healthy crowd.

In the first half, I felt there was an overall lack of intensity that one would expect from a senior championship game. Both teams exchanged scores and it was Moortown that went in 0-07 to 0-05 up at half time.

The second half was better thankfully. Colm Robinson, Ciaran Quinn and Kevin Coary scored 1-4 between them in the opening 10 minutes and Derrylaughan went 1-08 to 0-07 up. Moortown were shellshocked! Derrylaughan added further scores to go 6 points ahead and it was only a late goal from Moortown’s Peter Devlin that gave them a chance to get back into the lead. However, they couldn’t build on this and although Moortown searched for another goal deep into injury time, Derrylaughan held on for a 1-13 to 1-10 victory and a semi-final tie against the winners of this weekend’s Carrickmore Vs Clonoe replay.

Ciaran Quinn gets a shot in at the Moortown goals in the first half.
