Cookstown Vs Rock – 2012 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Championship, Semi Final

In one of the pick of the games this weekend, Cookstown Fr Rocks defeated Rock in the Tyrone Intermediate championship semi-final in Pomeroy and now face Eskra in the 2012 Intermediate championship final.

It was a game that didn’t quite live up to its potential – Rock started off strong with scores from Aidan Mc Garrity, Diarmuid Carroll and James Mc Creesh. Cookstown on the other hand started off  slowly and after several chances went wide, they soon scored a goal from Jason Quinn after a poor Rock clearance. Cookstown soon found their form and added more points to the board while Rock’s misfortune continued before half time when they were reduced to 14 men. Half time score; Rock 0-05 Cookstown 1-04.

After the break, Rock could only score 3 more points in 30 minutes whereas Cookstown equalled their first half tally scoring another 1-04, the goal coming from a high ball into the Rock square which everyone missed and it bounced into the net. Rock couldn’t repeat their league success over Cookstown earlier this year and dropped out of the Intermediate championship for 2012.

Full time score; Cookstown 2-08 Rock 0-08.
