Coalisland Vs Greencastle – 2012 Tyrone GAA Senior Championship

The second game in Dungannon on Sunday was the Tyrone Senior Club Championship tie between Coalisland Fianna and Greencastle. Many people have been tipping Coalisland for favourites to lift the O’Neill Cup this year but this meant very little to a determined and gritty Greencastle side I’m sure.

Both sides exchanged points in the first half with John Mc Cullagh and Mark Carson scored for Greencastle whilst Eoghan Carberry and Paddy Mc Niece split the posts for the Fianna to leave it 0-06 all at HT.

Greencastle’s Sean Warnock scored a point at the beginning of the second half to give them a one point lead but again this was cancelled out by Paddy Mc Niece and then Plunkett Kane. The real breakthrough of the game came in the second half when Paddy Mc Niece scored the only goal of the game and this gave Coalisland a 5 point cushion. The bite soon left the game as Peter Herron and Damian O’Hagan’s side won on a full time score of …… Coalisland 1-12 Greencastle 0-10.
