Carrickmore Vs St Macartans – 2012 Tyrone Ladies GAA Senior Championship, Semi-Final

The second Tyrone senior ladies championship semi-final took place on Saturday evening in Dunmoyle between 2011 champions St Macartans and defeated finalists Carrickmore.

It was a poor evening of weather but there was plenty of action on the field as Carrickmore scored 2 goals in the opening few minutes from Sinead Mc Aleer and Gemma Begley. St Macartans soon got into the game and scored points from Cathy Donnelly and Lynda Donnelly whilst Paula Donnelly hit the back of the net to make it 2-01 to 1-02 at HT.

There weren’t many scores in the second half either but the crowd were entertained with a high intensity battle on the field between the players. St Macartans dominated possession at times but found it difficult to get past the brick wall of the Carrickmore defence. When Carmen regained possession however they were very dangerous on the counter attack and found scores from Gemma Begley and Claire Gallagher. Two points separated the sides in the dying minutes of the match but St Macartans couldn’t find a second goal despite their excellent efforts and Carrickmore hung on. It was an exciting and entertaining game of football.

Full time score; Carrickmore 2-05 St Macartans 1-06

Carrickmore now meet neighbours Errigal Ciaran in the 2012 Tyrone Ladies Senior Championship final in the next couple of weeks.

Errigal Ciaran Vs Omagh – 2012 Tyrone Ladies GAA Senior Championship, Semi-Final

On Wednesday evening I travelled over to Beragh to see the Tyrone Ladies senior championship tie between Errigal Ciaran and Omagh St Endas. I rarely get an opportunity to photograph ladies GAA matches but made the most of a spare couple hours for the first championship semi-final.

Omagh St Endas were down quite a few key players from the 2011 season and were up against it from the start. Errigal Ciaran led throughout the game thanks to the scoring power of their formidable full forward line of Lycrecia Quinn, Sarah Connolly and Aine Canavan and cruised to victory. Errigal will now take on the winners of the Carrickmore Vs St Macartans semi-final.

Full time score; Errigal Ciaran 2-18 Omagh St Endas 0-07
