Edendork Vs Urney – 2015 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Final

Edendork made a little bit of history on Sunday when they lifted the Paddy Cullen Cup and became the Tyrone IFC champions, beating Urney by a single goal in an entertaining game of football.

Two goals from either half from Edendork’s Darren McCurry and Harry Og Conlon were key to their win but Urney pushed them all the way with stand out performances from Johnny Lafferty, Ronan Lafferty and Jamie McAleer. However, late points from Christopher McCurry and Conor Mallon secured the Dork win and their first Intermediate championship success in 30 years. Well done to them.

Full time score; Edendork 2-12 Urney 1-12

Eskra Vs Urney – 2013 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Club Championship Final

Eskra became the Tyrone Intermediate champions of 2013 on Sunday afternoon just 12 months after they were on the losing side to eventual All Ireland champions Cookstown Fr Rocks.

In a close game, Eskra scored an early goal in the first half thanks to the boot of Shane Hackett but Urney responded with two goals from county player Johnny Lafferty. After the sides went in level at half time, Urney took the lead with points coming from Jamie Mc Aleer, Stephen Lafferty and Johnny Lafferty but the major turning point in the game came mid-way through the second half when Eskra were awarded a penalty. The Emmetts captain Peter Hughes stepped up and held his nerve to net a decisive goal. Joe McCarroll and Paul Turbitt added further points to give them a historic 4 point win.

Full time score; Eskra 2-09 Urney 2-05.

Eskra Vs Urney – 2012 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Championship, Quarter Final

Eskra Emmetts progressed to the Tyrone IFC semi-finals on Friday night in Healy Park, Omagh after a well earned victory over Urney. Both of these teams were impressive in their first round ties against Stewartstown and Killeeshil respectively and there was never going to be much between them on the scoreboard. In a very low scoring first half, Eskra went in at HT ahead by the smallest of margins on a scoreline of 0-04 to 0-03.

In the second half, both teams had 5 to 10 minute spells of dominance but it was Eskra that converted this dominance into scores with points coming from Rory Marlow, Shane Hackett, Peter Hughes and Ryan Gartland. Urney lost a man towards the end of the second half after a second bookable offence which made their task even more difficult although Johnny Lafferty did score a goal for them in injury time to make it a 3 point defeat for the north-west Tyrone club. Eskra are now only 60 minutes away from making the 2012 Tyrone Intermediate final and I am sure they are relishing the prospect.

Full time score; Eskra 0-14 Urney 1-08.

Killeeshil Vs Urney – 2012 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Championship

After the Omagh-Clonoe match I travelled up the road to Carrickmore to see Urney take on Killeeshil in the Tyrone Intermediate Championship in Carmen’s newly redeveloped Pairc Naomh Colmcille field which looks fantastic.

Unfortunately the game wasn’t up to the same standard as the facilities and Urney cruised to a 3-12 to 0-10 victory over the Hoops. This now means Killeeshil will now return to Junior football, a year after they beat Dungannon in the Division 3 league title decider.  I only got a few good photos from the game but here they are.
