Trillick Vs Killyclogher – 2015 Tyrone GAA Senior Final

Trillick St Macartans achieved the near impossible on Sunday when they lifted the O’Neill Cup in front of 8000 people in Healy Park, Omagh. A tremendous feat given that exactly 12 months ago they were heavily defeated by the less fancied side in the Tyrone IFC final and this season was their first year back in senior football.

Trillick got off to a dream start when only 15 seconds into the game, Ruairi Brennan set up Lee Brennan for the only goal of the game. However Killyclogher soon got into the game and responded with points from Conall McCann and Mark Bradley to take a one point lead in at HT. The second half was similar to the first – lots of slow, patient build up play, especially from Trillick, ensuring they never gave the ball away. Killyclogher did equalise with 3 minutes left on the clock but just as the game looked to be heading for a draw, Lee Brennan was fouled and he converted the winning free kick to send the red and white crowd into ecstasy.

It was a great game between two great teams and played in a real sporting manner which was a delight. Well done to Trillick.

Full time score; Trillick 0-09 Killyclogher 0-08.

Below are my best selection of photos from the game which I am very happy with considering the very very sunny conditions for photography (but it was lovely to sit in!) Any enquires, please forward them to dmca.photos@gmail.com

Edendork Vs Urney – 2015 Tyrone GAA Intermediate Final

Edendork made a little bit of history on Sunday when they lifted the Paddy Cullen Cup and became the Tyrone IFC champions, beating Urney by a single goal in an entertaining game of football.

Two goals from either half from Edendork’s Darren McCurry and Harry Og Conlon were key to their win but Urney pushed them all the way with stand out performances from Johnny Lafferty, Ronan Lafferty and Jamie McAleer. However, late points from Christopher McCurry and Conor Mallon secured the Dork win and their first Intermediate championship success in 30 years. Well done to them.

Full time score; Edendork 2-12 Urney 1-12

Brackaville Vs Aghaloo – 2015 Tyrone GAA Junior Championship Final

Brackaville were crowned the Junior champions of Tyrone on Sunday in a repeat of the 2012 Tyrone JFC final. My own parish of Aghaloo picked up the Division 3 league title just last week and were favourites to ‘do the double’ on Sunday but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

To be fair, neither team performed to their best and there were numerous wides from both sides throughout the game. Brackaville went in 0-05 to 0-03 up at the break despite having 10 wides but the same fate met Aghaloo in the second half, as they too shot 10 wides with the breeze. While a draw looked to be on in the closing minutes of the game, Paul Feeney’s side couldn’t get the ball over the bar as the Brackaville players swamped their own half.

Both sides would probably agree that a draw would have been a fair result on the day as there was little between them but it was Brackaville who sealed the win and lifted the cup.

Full time score; Brackaville 0-09 Aghaloo 0-08.

Trillick Vs Coalisland – 2015 Tyrone GAA SFC, Semi Final

Trillick became the second time to book their place in this year’s Tyrone SFC final after a comprehensive win over Coalisland in Pomeroy on Sunday evening. It was a very impressive performance from the Trillick players with their county men really leading from the front.

This will be their second championship final in 12 months after reaching the Intermediate final last October which is quite a feat.

Full time score; Trillick 0-13 Coalisland 0-05.

Killyclogher Vs Dromore – 2015 Tyrone GAA SFC, Semi Final

In the second game of the double header last Friday night, Killyclogher toppled favourites Dromore in the semi final of the Tyrone SFC…. it was a great game of football with Dromore nearly overturning Killyclogher’s five point and 2 man advantage at HT to nealry level the game at the stroke of full time but it wasn’t to be.

Full time score; Killyclogher 0-13 Dromore 0-12

Aghaloo Vs Clogher – 2015 GAA Tyrone JFC, First Round

Aghaloo O’Neills continued their excellent run of form in 2015 with a comprehensive victory over neighbours Clogher in the first round of the Tyrone Junior Championship.

Played in lovely conditions in Omagh, Aghaloo took the lead in the opening couple of minutes and they never let it slip with some excellent scores from Tiarnan Donnelly, Niall Henderson and Jody McGlone to give them a 0-09 to 0-01 lead at HT. Clogher will be disappointed with how the first 30 minutes went but they made a huge effort in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, scoring a Barry McKenna fisted goal and two followup points to reduce the lead to 4 points but Aghaloo regained control of the game and went onto win by 8 points following further points from Brian McKenna, Niall McElroy and Stephen Donnelly. Well done to them.

Full time score; Aghaloo 0-17 Clogher 1-06.

Dungannon Clarkes Vs St Peters Warrenpoint – 2014 Ulster GAA Intermediate Quarter Final

Dungannon Clarkes exited the Ulster championship series on Sunday in Newry to a very strong St Peters, Warrenpoint.

Warrenpoint made their intentions clear from the start playing a very attacking game and giving the Clarkes defence little time to settle into the match. Dungannon however went into the lead after 5 minutes when Patrick Quinn palmed a high ball into the net but they failed to capitalise on the goal as Warrenpoint ruled supreme around midfield for most of the game. Ross McGarry continued to create further problems for Dungannon as he scored 6 first half points and the Clarkes were lucky enough to be going in level at 1-05 to 0-08.

The inevitable happened in the second half as Warrenpoint tussled Dungannon’s main danger men out of the game as they continued to dominate around midfield. The Clarkes did win a late penalty scored by Kiefer Morgan but it was too little, too late as St Peters progressed to the Ulster semi finals.

Full time score; St Peters 0-17 Dungannon Clarkes 2-09.
